Lure Of The Water
04 June 2010
Having lived in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside for the past 18 years, journalist Monica Grenfell who works as the Health Editor of Woman's Own magazine thought it was time for a change.
Her decision coincided at a time when she was finding it harder to look after her home especially after the harsh winter, and needed to do something to make her life a little easier.
It was during the Easter holidays that Monica was visiting Bristol and came across Crest Nicholson’s Harbourside development while taking a walk along the waterside.
Not really knowing what to expect she was soon taken by the hustle and bustle of life on the water and the general buzz of people going about their day-to-day business.
Having lived in Bristol many years before Monica’s recollection of what was then Canon’s Marsh was of a derelict wasteland smattered with muddy puddles.
It was during her walk that Monica popped in to Crest’s marketing suite to see what properties were available for sale and once she saw in more detail the style and location of the apartments on offer she instantly realised that this was what she wanted.
After her visit to Bristol she soon sold her Oxford house and bought a much smaller property nearby. At the same time she bought one of the two-bedroom apartments at Harbourside and is now enthused by living in the heart of the city centre.
Monica said: “When I first visited the marketing suite I really didn’t think that 18 days later I would own a new apartment there. Everything about the development is just so ideal for what I want.
“The location is perfect, the layout of my new apartment is just what I need and the sales team were brilliant, especially Laura. I’m also impressed by the secure parking and locking system in the apartment which gives a sense of added security.
“I do have the best of both worlds being able to either enjoy the countryside in Oxfordshire or overlook the floating harbour watching the world go by on the water. And having lived in a rural location for so long being able to just pop out to a restaurant or bar is just fantastic and I’m looking forward to exploring the city further.
“The sale was very smooth and I was very impressed by Crest’s recommended solicitor. Overall my experience of Crest has been outstanding and I can’t praise the team enough.”
Located right in the heart of Bristol it’s easy to see why Monica is so excited and why those living at Harbourside not only enjoy the benefits of a stunning new waterside development but all that comes with living in the city centre.
No other development in Bristol is in such a convenient location and no other development can offer properties that are located right on the waterside.
The centre is only a few minutes walk away and there are numerous restaurants and bars close by including The Living Room, Chinese restaurant Zen and Pizza Express.
There is also a designated water taxi stop right outside the development so anyone wanting to get to Temple Meads can hop on and make the pleasant journey to catch their train. Alternatively the numerous stops along the way provide a great way to commute around the city centre.
The latest phase is called Beacon House and comprises 47, one, two and three-bedroom apartments.
Spread over seven floors, the variety of different styles and property sizes has already attracted a lot of interest from property hunters looking to live next to the city’s historic floating harbour.
And anyone thinking of looking at Harbourside will be interested to know that the development achieved a Building for Life gold standard from the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment (CABE), the Government’s advisor on architecture, urban space and public space and the Home Builders Federation (HBF).
Prices currently start from £205,000.
