Waterside living still a big draw despite current downturn

Research carried out by developer Crest Nicholson in Bristol has shown that 84% of people living in urban areas aspire to owning a waterside property. People are attracted by the relaxing lifestyle a waterside location offers.

Even in the current climate, for many buyers it is still an ambition to own a property by the waterside.

At Crest Nicholson's Harbourside development people are still buying waterside properties. They are attracted by the lifestyle and stunning views.

Although the survey revealed some people think waterside locations are too expensive, Crest Nicholson continues to sell at Harbourside and the Easy Buy scheme they are currently running is helping purchasers to meet their aspirations.

Sales Director for Harbourside, Chris Warner said: “Even in the economic downturn we are still selling well at Harbourside, both to long term investors and those who want to make the waterside location their home.

“The majority of purchasers we surveyed moved to Harbourside to make changes in their lifestyle, helping them to manage a stressful working life more effectively. Many home owners also flagged up making extensive use of the Bristol Ferry Boat service, using the water to commute in and around the city.

“Some of our purchasers would not have bought at all without water being nearby, maintaining confidence that purchasing a waterside property is a good investment, whatever the economic climate”.
